Is Juniper really two months old already? Her rapidly growing length and girth would suggest that yes, 8 weeks have passed us by. But it feels like only yesterday that she was tiny and fragile, pink and splotchy and newborn. And squinty. Now her eyes open extremely wide, and she she stares at everything as though she using some superhero power to suck it all into her brain. Mom and I have been taking her out during the day (shopping, of course). She is very good in her stroller or carrier, while we eat lunch or sip coffee or try on overpriced clothes. She loves the supermarket. I strap her to my chest and she rides around staring at all the food and the people. She is particularly fond of the Whole Foods produce section - so many colors, all of them right at her eye level. She was also pretty happy in Nordstrom, but what girl isn't?
She sleeps well, though she still wakes around 4 am to eat. She's quick about it, so I have no complaints. Last night was the first night that she slept straight through without waking. She has bouts of fussy in the evening that seem tummy-related, but it gets better every day.
She has recently become enamored with her fist and sucks on it with loud, slurping vigorousness. It's one of the more adorable sounds you'll ever hear. But the fingers... she hasn't quite figured out fingers yet.
She hates wearing hats. Or having her hands covered up. Keeping her warm on windy days or cold nights is a challenge. And she absolutely hates her car seat. She flails and squirms and screams until she wears herself out and falls asleep.
Her big toothless grin and her silly faces and her little chatty sounds have us all captivated. She's our funny valentine.
